Who would have guessed study and work would be so much fun

Making friends

As part of the commitment to developing professional skill and education Children in Distress provides practical internships and work experience for students studying at the University of Bucharest’s Faculty of Social Work. St. Margaret’s Hospice was visited was this  week, by a group of faculty undergraduates, who were delighted to be greeted with open arms by the residents who  are always enthusiastic about  having visitors and enjoy the company of others, the undergrads  were  quite surprised to find so many smiley faces and so much love readily on offer.

With St Margaret’s psychologists carefully supervising, the students were involved in a variety of the activities the children undertake, insight into which will come in handy once they finish their studies and graduated to building their professional careers. The students, kindly didn’t come empty handed as they brought lots of fruits and sweets in anticipation of the patience and warm embraces they were to receive. The children, who were very happy for their gifts, thanked their new “friends” and decided to enjoy some of the tasty offerings on the spot. Towards the end of their visit, the students expressed their wish to return and to help develop and experience many of the other activities carried out with the children. They were also thrilled that their visit had put some smiles on kid’s faces.

All of us at CID  wish to  thank  the class of 2017  for their kindness  and an open invitation and  welcome to St Margaret’s, where learning, play, love, hope and regular hugs are always readily on offer for professional staff.
