Making friends and influencing the future of nursing in Arges County

Student nurses ready to visit St Andrew\'s

Offering professional insights and training opportunities is one way in which the team at St Andrew’s ensures that the new generation of nursing professional entre their career with some practical understanding of the challenges involved. 0n the 24th May a group of nursing students, led by their course coordinator, from the Carol Davila Sanitary Postsecondary School in Pitesti, paid an insight visit to the Centre.

Centre Director, Mariana Mândreanu, talked of CID’s role, the Centre’s mission of care and outlined details of the services and facilities available, she also presented some of the life challenges that children face and spoke of the services and programmes tailored to their needs.  The young trainees were delighted to learn that they could volunteer at St Andrew’s in the future and that in doing so they would help in maintaining the highest quality and standards of palliative care services provided for the residents.

The student nurses very kindly brought the children little individual gifts of fruit, biscuits, fruit yoghurts, Teddy juice, wet wipes and Johnson baby shampoo.  The children very soon made new friends amongst the visiting group of youngsters, who were very impressed with everything they had seen and heard during their working visit. These budding young professionals promised to visit as often as possible expressing the hope that they will be able to complete their practice work.
