Top StoryUN World Autism Awareness Day BucharestCID's St Michael's School for Children with Autism Show Their Support The children, young people and staff of the charity's St Michael's School for Children with Autism has a special day out in Coltea Plaza at the very heart of Bucharest, to celebrate and support the UN's World Autism Awareness Day. This is the first time children living with autism have been involved in sharing with their fellow citizens just what it means to have autism. NGOs Come Together to Highlight the Plight of Autism in Romania This event, and those held elsewhere, highlighting the plight of children and young people with Autism was supported by all of the key NGO care organisations involved in the field of autism in Romania including Step by Step, Gradinitele Bambi, Fundatia Children in Distress - Bucuresti, Fundatia "Pentru Voi" - Timisoara, Centrul Pentru Educatie Incluziva "Paul Popescu Neveanu" Timisoara, Fundatia Rubin, ANCAAR, Iasi, Asociatia Puzzle Romania, Asociatia Parintilor cu Copii cu Autism Bucuresti Sector 6, AEGEE Timisoara, Help Autism Now Society USA. Events Across Romania Similar events took place across Romania, in the Mihael Viteazu Square, Craiova, the Palace Square, Iasi and Opera Plaza, Timisoara. Autism and its impact has come ot the fore as the result of the pioneering work done by Children in Distress through its international conference prgramme that has brought world renowned specialists to share their expertise on Autistic Spectrum Disorders. International Masterclass Conference 2009 - An Event Not to be Missed This year's Children in Distress International Conference on Autism, the seventh in the series, is to be held in Bucharest between 17th -18th September. This major event will offer a two day masterclass programme presented by Professor Dr Sam Goldstein, one of the United States leading practioners in the treatment of Autistic Spectrum Disorders, whose relaxed style and wealth of expertise and experience in the field wowed professional carers, clinicians and parents at last year's conference.
