Elizeo’s present

Little things mean a lot

Santa’s elves are working overtime to make all the children around the world happy and today, it was Elizeo’s turn. Every day, Elizeo deals with the complications of his spasticity, so he is tense and most of the time, unable to relax or feel at ease, no matter the environment. His carers can’t even remember the last time when he was able to smile right back and forget about everything. One of his favourite past times is listening to music, an activity that seems to help him relax and enjoy himself al little and he also seems to enjoy his  massage sessions and anything that involves the tactile sense.

Elizeo’s preferences and needs were communicated to his UK based sponsor and friend, Mrs. Jones, wanted to send him a special present just in time for Christmas, to cheer him up and help him relax when he can manage it.

His carer could feel his excitement as she gave him some inquisitive looks while we opened another parcel for him, as Elizeo is dearly beloved by a close-knitted community of nice people. His present included two toys, a beautiful teddy bear and a horsey and lots of sweets. The teddy bear toy is an incredibly spectacular toy, proper for play time and for sleeping, as it lights up and thrice changes its colour. Moreover, for half an hour it plays classical pieces like Back, Beethoven, jazz, modern music and new age and can even reproduce natural sounds. This wonderful toy has introduced Elizeo to a magical new world, full of colour, lights and music to soothe his soul. He paid attention when we showed him how the toy works, he examined it and carefully touched it to feel its texture. Both Elizeo’s new toys were a real success and aside from the fact they will be placed near him, they will be used during his sensory sessions to stimulate his senses.

We would like to thank Mrs Jones for her generosity, incredibly thoughtful present and for making Elizeo extremely happy! Merry Christmas and lots of smiles, wonderful and magic moments in the company of your loved ones!
