Claudia experiences the joy of the theatre

Before  curtain up

With culture to the fore this week, Claudia and her class mates, accompanied by their form master, went to Pitesti’s Alexandru Davila Theatre to see Carlo Goldoni’s comedy “I Rusteghi”, (normally translated in English as “the Cantankerous Men” or alternatively “The Boors” as it was billed for this performance).

This cultural outing was part of a comprehensive educational programme developed by Pitesti’s School No 18, which Claudia now attends; this also includes book clubs, theatre performances, philharmonic, films and museums outings. Several classes have been to see the same play. Claudia’s classmates experienced all the joy and excitement of the theatre for the first time. Once back at the St Andrew’s she talked endlessly about the theatre, the play, the actors; the glorious costumes and the beautiful set and lighting. She was simply blown away that after so many centuries; the production was still relevant, fresh and modern, being both new and old at the same time.

Everyone is happy to see Claudia taking part in this superb educational programme and hope that in future she will add much more new and exciting colourful experiences to her life.
