Grace Dieu Manor School Shows The Way The children, young people and teachers of Grace Dieu Manor School took their first steps to join the charity's family of support by taking part in a sponsored walk to benefit the children in need of treatment by the therapists of St Nicholas' CDC in Bucharest. School Council Suggested a Sponsored Walk The School Council, drawn from across the classes of this wonderful, independent school, selected Children in Distress after a great deal of research and suggested a sponsored walk to raise funds for the children they felt they could help. The school walked from their idyllic school grounds through Charnwood Forest to the near-by ruins of Grace Dieu Priory, where Alisdair Barron, the charity's Chief Executive, had the opportunity to share details of the charity and of three children - Madelin, Alexandru and Camelia - who thrive only as a result of dedicated nursing and care in St Andrew's and St Margaret's Hospices. The school's pre-school and infant classes took the short route back but everyone else walked three or four miles through some of the most beautiful woodland paths and scenery in the area, to return to school. An Impressive School Promoting a "Balance of Life" The CEO was greatly impressed by the setting of the school, the quality of the facilities, the excellence and dedication of the teachers, and the poise, maturity and charm of the young people being educated at Grace Dieu, which came across strongly as an ideal place to learn and have fun. The school clearly fulfills its aims to offer a balance of life with work, recreation, sport, culture and prayer whilst the uniqueness of each and every child is celebrated, prised and nurtured. The school has impressive academic results and the pupils leave with a strong moral sense and commitment to others. School Plaque will Hang in a Place of Honour Alisdair was thrilled to have visited Grace Dieu, to take part in their sponsored walk and gratefully receive a school plaque, which he will hand deliver, to hang on the wall of the of one of the therapy treatment suites, which will shortly be completed within the new floor of St Nicolas' Child Development Centre. The suites will offer hundreds of children with a range disabilities the chance of rehabilitation and development therapy to allow them to maximise their potential.
