Children in Distress and the Children In Its Care Have Lost a Great Friend

Children in Distress and the children in its care lost a great friend and ever constant and generous supporter when Julia Clark recently died after some weeks in King George's Hospital, Ilford, Essex.

A Founding Trustee

Julia, as the Church Warden at St Laurence, Barkingside, had worked closely with John Walmsley when the charity was first set up. She was a founding volunteer, Secretary to the Board of Trustees, a Trustee most involved in the operation of the charity's thrift shops and, latterly, sponsor of another little Julia from St Margaret's Hospice.

Always Thinking of Others

Julia enjoyed life, cared passionately for others and brought great joy through her constant kindness, with her chatter and her very infectious laugh. She was immensely proud of her children, Susan and Graham, and adored her "beautiful grandchildren", Lorna and Robert.

Julia was supported by her lifelong love, friend, partner and husband Vic, who dedicatedly supported her as she dealt bravely with the early on-set of Alzheimer's that slowly robbed her of her wonderful personality. A fall led to a period of hospitalisation and after a short trial return home with a network of support, she had to return to Fern Ward.

Despite dedicated nursing and care, Julia slept away on Sunday 31st May.

Julia touched many hearts, brought great joy and left a legacy to be proud of. She will be very sadly missed by family and friends alike.
