Celebrating another milestone in Andrei Dragan’s life.

The Children's cabaret

Happy birthday, Andrei!

Andrei had a rough start in life, the doctors confirmed their diagnosis of hydrocephalus and his parents walked away leaving him in the hospital. Fortunately, for him destiny brought him to St Margaret’s where he has found a home full of love and a family who care.  That little family are very proud and feel blessed to celebrate an incredibly important milestone in. Andrei’s life for he has just turned 10 years of age. The Saint Margaret’s care team prepared a little impromptu surprise party for him. The volunteers, care staff and children were all involved. Some weeks ago, the children got down to work around their activities table and created beautiful garlands and colourful decorations ready to dress the residents’ ward. Lots of balloons nicely filled out the  décor and transformed the atmosphere into that of a candy coloured wonderland. The day was completed by a beautiful surprise from a group of devoted volunteers. Catalin, Ilinca and Sumeia came along to entertain and, played the saxophone and a couple of jazz songs to set the mood. Moreover, Sumeia showed a traditional Colombian musical instrument to the children and the atmosphere in the rooms was filled the soothing aromas from various essential oils dispensers. When Catalin started playing the saxophone, the entire room filled with positive energy and the children liked the good vibes that jazz creates. Although Andrei is normally less receptive to strong noises or unfamiliar voices, this time he reacted very positively during the entire performance, got in the groove and had a beautiful beaming smile on his face.

The cake was brought in and everyone sang “happy birthday” to Andrei, wishing him the best and many more happy days just like this. All helped him blow the candles and make a wish. The birthday was nicely rounded by beautiful gifts sent by Andrei’s UK sponsors Glynis Bonshor and Peter Jenkins, to whom everyone at St Margaret’s send their thanks and best wishes. As the entire day and experience was possible due to their kindness and never-ending support. The children enjoyed the musical appreciation experience and the chance to wish happy birthday to their friend, Andrei. St Margaret’s nursing team   would like to thank everyone for being there for Andrei and for making possible such wonderful, love and affection filled events
