Top StoryNew Appointee is the Cat’s PyjamasJust What The Children Wanted The children in St Margaret’s Hospice were devastated last year when their petting cat was lost having strayed and been hit by a car. Last week, however, everyone was excited when they realised that they had a new friend and potential therapist. A little kitten was rescued from under the wheels of the centre’s minibus in Bucharest’s busy morning rush hour traffic. Lost and alone, the kitten had ventured out into the street and was at risk of being run over. The driver rescued the weak and disoriented kitten and rushed to St Margaret’s with the kitten in shock. Andrea especially is thrilled to have her petting cat back and was soon playing happily with the kitten on the floor. A Bundle of Mischief This little bundle of mischief has already made some firm friendships and has been seen sleeping peacefully with a very contented Camelia. Passed the Medical with Flying Colours Although a little under nourished and perhaps a little young to be away from mum, Mica has passed her medical with flying colours. The vet sees no reason why the kitten cannot help keep the children happy and bring a little joy into their short lives. The kitten is closely supervised by the nursing staff who are aware of the benefit that having a petting cat brought to the children the last time one joined the therapy team. Short Term Contract Although there is a moratorium on staff recruitment at the moment, due to the funding crisis, an exception has been made for Mica who now has a short term probationary contract to see if she can make a positive contribution in her new role.
