Top Story“Unrehearsed Memories” Reflecting on the Ampleforth CrusadersGreat Things They Have Done For more years than many of us would care to admit, the Ampleforth Crusaders have been supporters of the work of Children in Distress. Generations of young crusaders have made up Christmas shoeboxes, befriended, helped and sponsored children; changed the lives of Florin and latterly of Olympia. Although we came together only fleetingly at Services of Thanksgiving in Yorkshire, the leaders and children have always been seen as being at the very heart of our family of support. The Happy End of a Successful “Crusade” On July 10th, fifty crusaders, past and present, came together for the last time to share many happy memories to recall and replay the activities, and to make their final evening ever more joyful. There were un-rehearsed memories of “What the Crusaders Meant To Me” and it became clear just what significant role the crusaders had played in the spiritual life of so many children and young people. Speaking of their involvement in the work of Children in Distress there was a resolve by the leaders to continue that contact and sponsorship. Missed But Never Forgotten The Ampleforth Crusaders, an example of Christian charity at its best, may no longer meet, however, they have changed the lives of Crusaders past and present and touched the lives of many children they will never meet. We give thanks for all that you have done.
