Top StoryAlyth Hughes is a very remarkable womanHappy Birthday Miss Aly Alyth Hughes joined the Children in Distress family shortly after retiring as Head of Physiotherapy services in one of the NHS’s busiest hospital groups. She has revolutionised therapy services within our children’s centres, been the inspiration for our Child Development Centres and been a mentor and guide to our multiple therapy professionals. She has blown new life into the Charity’s Advisory Group and almost single handedly set up the Charity’s bi-annual medical conference programme in Romania, sharing new insights, skills and techniques across the medical and therapy professions. Alyth has the support of an enterprising team within Fund-a-Physio Ely, which was set up to help her deliver her commitment to children abandoned as beyond help by Romania’s medical professionals. She is an inspiration to us all, for Alyth is as she puts it is in a “comfortable” birthday holding pattern, a prime exponent of you are only as old as you feel this dynamic septuagenarian has just celebrated another birthday with her much loved children at St Margaret’s Hospice in Bucharest. Florin hosted her birthday party and presented flowers and the gift of a chocolate fountain the staff felt was just right for their favourite “Miss Aly”. If you would like to know more or help Alyth; have therapy skill to share or just with a donation to make her work possible, contact AlythHHughes@childrenindistress.org.uk or contact 0141 559 5690 and share your contact details, Alyth will return your call. |
