Judy Higley, pictured here, has lived in France for the last 13 years, although she is now considering returning to her family home in Grantham. For Judy, knitting is more of passion than pastime. For years her much loved “Gran’s hand knitted sweaters were eagerly awaited by her grandchildren who live in Spain, however they have now moved on to designer chic. Judy was “at a loss” until she heard of the Children in Distress Knitters Guild, those hand knitting wonders from across Britain, who now help us keep the poorest children warm and wrapped up in hand knitted in autumn and winter woollies, hats, scarves and gloves.

Our Sweater Appeal “just fits the bill”; as you might guess Judy has already finished the sweater being knitted in the photograph along with many others; so regularly parcels with beautifully hand knitted sweaters are delivered from France to our Appeal Co-ordinator, Jane Russell’s, home in Kirkbymoorside.
