Top StoryShoebox Campaign 2011 LaunchAre these for us Christmas 2010 After weeks of preparation and meetings to set up the arrangements for warehousing, Roy Wheeler and his team of Local Ambassadors have launched the charity’s Christmas Shoebox Appeal 2011. Roy has arranged with Preston’s of Potto the generous free provision of spare storage and his local Cleveland, Ford and Mecedes Dealers, Jennings and Bell Trucks has offered to make available a van to help the collection process. The team in the Glasgow office and our local Ambassadors have contacted school, churches and a host of generous donors who have made it possible for the poorest children across the Balkans to have the joy of a gift this Christmas. After twenty years of bringing joy at Christmas, the need for the appeal is as great today as ever before. Roy has involved Mission and Relief, CID’s logistic partner, to ensure that these “Love in a Box” shoeboxes are with lucky children in hospitals, orphanages, placement centres and the poorest homes by Christmas Day. As Roy says “What makes CID’s Shoebox Appeal different is the we make sure that every shoebox brings some love and joy at Christmas and CID’s Father Christmas is there to see all the excitement and joy in the eyes of the kids receiving a gift for the first time can bring.” Roy, who has recently battled back from a multiple heart bypass, and this ambitious volunteer team hope to bring joy to some 10.000 children this year but needs some help in this period of financial crisis to see the donated gift boxes collected, packed, shipped and delivered. If you can help, volunteer as a collector, to pack of just spare a few pounds to bring smiles to some of the poorest children in Europe please contact Alisdair Barron on 0141 559 5695 |
