Top Story‘Help Me If You Can!’, let’s do the ‘Funky Chicken’, Cup Cake !Gwen Brown's cup cakes almost good enough to eat When Bucharest’s fundraising dynamic duo Valentina Zaharia and Maria Popa decided to hold an Easter Bazaar at Chez Marie in Bucharest to help fund repairs to the junior palliative care ward at St Margaret's after winter storm damage;the very first person they called was Jane Russell, seeking help and to ask Jane who will lead the pre Easter Spring Supporter’s Tour to pack her bags with suitable handcraft goodies to sell.
Enterprising as ever, and rising to the challenge, Jane spread the word to Handcrafters' Guild members across the UK, consequently her suitcase will be bulging with all kinds of gifts ranging from "funky" chickens filled with Cadbury's Creme Eggs, to cupcakes made from face flannels together with an veritable host of Easter bunnies, large and small.
Julie Clamp, inspired by her, Guild member mum, Kath Atkinson’s example couldn’t resist the call and dispatched a box full of "funky" chickens, which are sure to be a hit with the good folk of Bucharest. Gwen Brown, a ninety-six years young supporter, from Kirkbymoorside, made two boxes of cupcakes from face flannels and topped them with bath pearls and small children's lollipops as the "cherry on top".
Jane, Vali and Maria are absolutely thrilled and want to thank everyone who has donated items for the Easter Bazaar and we will update you after the event.
If you have other wizard craft ideas to share, or just want to be part of the Handcrafter’s Guild please call Jane on Tel. No. 01751 432089 E-mail:janerussell@childrenindistress.org.uk. Alternately if you want more details of the Easter Bazaar contact Valentina Zaharia at vali@cid.org.ro |
