Top StoryUrgent appeal to “help keep the roof over their head”Damage to the roof Repairs urgently needed
St Margaret’s is one of the few children’s hospices in Romania that cares for children with severe genetic disabilities and terminal conditions associated. Last winter, the snow and ice storms that struck Bucharest ,week on week ,damaged its conservatory therapy suite roof beyond repair although the temporary patches got us through the back end of the winter and ensured that internal damage has not got worse. The survey has indicated that work is now urgent and needs be extended to the adjacent children’s and children’s ward roof where the roofing felt has also failed and the underlying roof boards have been damaged by water seepage and need replaced . This conservatory offers much needed shade during summers scorching heat and shelter in the freezing cold; it is also where all the children have their physiotherapy and play therapies that maximises their mobility as well as providing a somewhere to fun and games. The race is on, for the replacement roof for both ward and therapy area needs be in place before the autumn rains make the work impossible and cause further damage internally to the building structure and electrical wiring. The charity sadly has limited funds for capital works therefore has launched an urgent appeal for the twenty-five thousand pound (£25,000) required. Please help keep a roof over the heads of the sixteen children in the hospices care either by donating online here in the website of call Alisdair Barron on 0141 559 5695. |
