Four more for “Saint Laurence”

The two pioneers from Giurgiu

“Saint Laurence” Independent Living Centre in Cernavoda has built up an excellent reputation, for young people looking to move from sheltered or semi-supported living and this has reached the ears of four teenagers currently in the care of the Social Security and Child Protection General Department of Giurgiu County (DGASPC). This foursome are looking for their first real home and have asked to join the independent living programme being run in St Laurence’s family houses by PositvPlus. From two other Giurgiu lads living in Casa John, they already know  about the emphasis on growing independence and have heard so many good things about St Laurence  family life and the support; they will receive, to say nothing of new  educational opportunities. They are ready interested and wish to move. Olympia Marin, the St Laurence psychologist and on-site “PositivPlus” manager has already visited the group in Giurgiu to meet and evaluate these youngsters for their eventual transfer.

The initial evaluation has been done, their medical files and needs will shortly be assessed, and Olympia will soon complete the final discussions with their respective responsible local protection authorities. Once care contracts have been drawn up and exchanged, these young people will be on the move and all set to take their first step to an independent life at “Saint Laurence.”
