Top StoryPioneer Partnership paves the way to a better a future for the children of Bucharest’s Sector 6.Speech therapist can improve communication Both teams at Children in Distress and the Social Security and Child Protection Department of Sector 6, Bucharest (DGASPC roughly translated as the General Directorate for Social Assistance and Protection of Children) share concerns about the numbers of children currently resident in that sector, who urgently need community based rehabilitation and recuperation services. There is an existing long-term, synergistic and particularly fruitful partnership with St Margaret’s Hospice with four incurably ill children placed in its care. To extend that original partnership they are both determinedly working to extend the help of the team at St Nicholas Child Development Centre to an initial group of up to 20 infants and children needing home based physiotherapy and outreach palliative care.
Both teams are particularly excited about this new initiative, which seeks to improve the wellbeing and quality of life for some children in the Sector 6 Community.
