Mihail shares a moment with Rafi at St Margaret\'s Hospice
Mihail Gavril is a fascinating man, he is not only an award winning master painter he is an intensely spiritual man who has strong feeling for his fellow man.
Mihail, is a son of breathtaking Bukovina one of northern Romania’s most beautiful regions, he left his village home at twelve years of age to follows his muse. The fall of communism was liberating and he has travelled Europe seeking inspiration for his work. He has mastered pencil, oil and watercolour using self-taught innovative techniques even including metal plates and leather to portray unique impressions of landscapes, seascapes, buildings, churches and cathedrals. His work has been widely exhibited received international acclaim including the Seymour-Oberner Foundation award at the prestigious Swiss Artforum in 2007.
Mihail has never forgotten his roots and remains firmly committed to help others particularly the children in CID’s hospices and children’s projects. He is the inspiration for the Children in Distress “Art with Heart” Appeal 2012 and his work will feature in the Charity Exhibition and Auction that will take place in Bucharest’s prestigious “Gavroche Antic” Art Gallery in Bucharest’s Polona street on Thursday 27th September 2012.
