Boxing clever at St Peter’s, Aldborough Hatch

Shoeboxes destined for Eastern Europe on Christmas Day (From left to right) Muriel Karunaratna, Revd Kate Lovesey, Vanessa Cole and Shirley Rudge.

So far nearly 200 shoeboxes “well 183 to be exact” – all wrapped in colourful festive paper and containing gifts for children and families in Eastern Europe, have collected at St. Peter’s Church, Aldborough Hatch, for this year’s Children in Distress Shoebox Appeal 2014.

St. Peter’s has become a  key collecting point for shoeboxes donated by members of the Church  and friends in Aldborough Hatch and across Kent as well  as accepting boxes filled with love from Shoebox Appeal supporter in  St Mary’s, Linton, Cambridgeshire,  St James Church  South Elmham in  Suffolk, and All Saints’, Staplehurst, Kent.

Priest–in-Charge Kate Lovesey shared with CID Web News “The shoeboxes have all been filled with new items of warm winter clothing, toys, sweets, stationery together with the trinkets and those fun items that children and families enjoy here at this festive time. In 2012, 140 boxes were collected, this swelled to 170 last year and this year we are at 183 and still counting – we hope that we will hit the 200 next year! Christmas is about giving and sharing, and these shoeboxes will bring something of the spirit of Christmas to the poorest families and children in Eastern Europe who will have nothing else on Christmas Day.”

The race is one to collect, pack and ship thousands of gift shoeboxes for Shoebox Appeal 2014 , If you would like to share a little Christmas spirit with Europe’s poorest children  and senior citizen, who will otherwise have little to celebrate this Christmas; please contact Jane Russell on 01751 432089 and she will do what she can to help. Please support CID Shoebox Appeal 2014 uniquely it will deliver every box into a child’s hand before Christmas Day.
