Speading the joy of Christmas

It was Christmas Eve and after three busy weeks of deliveries before Santa could stand down  for the impressive number of shoeboxes sent this year from Great Britain by Children in Distress  made it possible to distribute gifts right across Romania. This year the shoeboxes reached the children in need from Bacau, Constanta, Ialomita, Ilfov, Giurgiu, Arges, Calarasi and Dolj counties, as well as Bucharest and the immediate surrounding area.

In Bacau County, Dan Blueman and Vali Craciunescu, two well-known musicians and popular entertainers, who support CID Ro fundraising events in Bucharest, went to help Santa Claus distribute shoeboxes. Dan and Vali are among the few artists who in December are still involved in charitable work. They organised a tour of the hospitals and centres for those with disabilities. Their most recent charity concert “From Zavaidoc to Queen and back” took place in Bacau, at the Racaciuni – Bacau’s Neuropsychiatric Recuperation Centre, where the artists entertained over a hundred patients who enjoyed their performance.

Shoeboxes were distributed and all those in need received a Christmas gift. Everybody involved greatly appreciated the efforts, love and care spent by those who organized the Shoebox Appeal in Great Britain and made everything possible.

Hopefully we can count on their help and support again next year.
