Cristina stakes another step forward and embarks on a new and daunting road to recovery

Cristina faces months of therapy to help her walk

Cristina has been for an orthopaedic exam at the Marie Curie Emergency Clinical Hospital in Bucharest and the doctor noted that her ankle’s mobility improved moderately and recommended her to follow an intense physiotherapy rehabilitation process. Based on his recommendation, Cristina’s programme has been revised and her daily activities now include therapy sessions in both the morning and the afternoon.

St Margaret’s specialists have requested the purchase of a walking device that would help Cristina tremendously in learning how to walk.

The orthopod has also suggested the Cristina also attends the Dr. Nicoae Robanescu Recovery Centre for Children for a set of thorough check-ups and tests so that she can receive Botox treatment to target her muscular spasms, improve her body’s position and eases her associated pain. The Recovery Centre’s staff have been contacted and Cristina will soon be admitted. Moreover, during her stay, she will have to be accompanied and monitored around the clock, therefore we will have to revise and adapt Cristina’s care team’s timetable so that they can help ensure her proper care.

After six months of intense physiotherapy recovery programme and her treatment at the Dr. N. Robanescu Recovery Centre Cristina will be referred back to orthopaedist  to re-asses her situation.

We can only wish her good luck on this new road to recovery and we hope that she will be able to run around the Centre’s yard and continue to delight us just like she does every day!
