Bathing made easier for children and staff alike at St Andrew’s

Installed fitted and in use within an hour

As children with disabilities grow older, helping them bathe can be an increasing problem for their carer and nursing teams, with lifting issues putting their own health at risk. Raised level baths can help but are not the best solution to this problem of safe secure bathing and back pain and strain.  In February,  two representatives from  the Activ Ortopedic Company of  Bucharest visited St. Andrew’s Centre in  Pitesti  to install  a special bathtub device to help bath the  children in  the residential ward – the device is designed to assist caring for those living with a  variety  of  motor disabilities. The appliance was purchased on the advice of the centre’s physiotherapist’s team and the involvement and active support of both the Arges County Health Insurance Fund, and Activ Ortopedic.

The device makes easy the bathing of children and their transfer from the tub to the drying and dressing table; reduces their discomfort and helps speed the washing the process. The care team are very excited about it because the bathing routine will become easier and fuss free for both the children and their caregivers.

The representatives of Active Ortopedic discussed with the Centre’s medical staff who work with the children how best to make proper use of the device.
