Jane preparing for her new life

Jane Russell, after more than a decade as CID’s ambassador in the North of England, has decided it is time to hand over the baton to another,  having battled back from  ill heath herself, Jane  now cares for both  Pete her husband and her  mum. Having done a wonderful job for all of the children, cared for by Children in Distress, Jane has decided   the time is right to refocus on quality time with Pete, her family , children and grandchildren and to recharge her batteries.  Jane who will retire on the 31st of March will be greatly missed by the CEO, her colleagues in the management team , her many friends and especially by  the children and young people she has known, helped and cared for over many years.

Jane recently shared with web news “  When in 1992, as school secretary at the local primary school, I encouraged the children to take part in Children in Distress’ Shoebox Appeal, I couldn’t begin to imagine the journey I would embark upon. I have lots of memories of my times in Romania, many good ones but also some sad . I have loved every minute of my time with the Charity. I have made lots of friends in Romania and across the UK, with whom I fully intend to keep in touch and I shall also visit them when my pension allows!!  CID has been in my heart for so long and will remain in my heart for the rest of my life. I plan to volunteer in the shop in Kirkbymoorside in time when my husband’s health improves (he has been ill for over a year) and I will continue to make items to sell at CID events as well as help to fundraise in other ways.

I would like to thank everyone for their fantastic support and I hope you will be as generous with your support to my successor Caroline Wilkie.
