Where there’s a will there’s a way! Carmen Halmaghi Story:

Carmen before University

Carmen is now a 19 year old student attending the courses at the Management Faculty of Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE). She is only one of the many successful students to have been helped by our Children in Distress family.

Once a student at No.62 Middle School, she was enrolled, at the beginning of 8th grade, in the Children in Distress social care project entitled “Development of the education and social assistance infrastructure for children facing a high risk of school truancy and abandon”.

She is from a two parent family which lives with severe financial problems and challenges. Despite that her parents have never stopped encouraging and supporting her in continuing her education and to become an excellent student. In elementary and middle school as a dedicated student she achieved very good grades, passing the National Evaluation Examination at the end of the 8th grade; she was enrolled at the prestigious “Victor Babes” National College. Carmen, always demonstrated exceptional   interest in activities offered by her CID Ro project and was very keen to attend extra maths tuition, which helped her graduate from high-school. Despite, having passed through middle school, she kept in touch with the team and as her schedule allowed, she still got involved in various activities organised by them.

Having passed her Baccalaureate exam, with excellent grades, hard work ensured her acceptance by the faculty of Bucharest University.  At present Carmen is following her dream, still working hard to make sure that her future is bright and successful. Her story proves that when family sacrifice, encouragement, love, the support of others and hard work come together, anything can be achieved and that where there is a will there is always a way.

Good luck Carmen and we are very proud of your achievements!
