“Summer play and learning day”

Summer sail away days

We try to make every day at St Margaret’s Centre is  a celebration, of new experiences and surprise and offers the young residents  opportunities to learn and discover more about this fascinating world in which they  live !

This when it was too hot to be outside week they learned new and interesting facts about land and water transportation, about great pieces of technology that allow us humans to travel great distances and helps move goods from one location to another on land, by rail or road or on water using great cargo ships or other types of boats.

Lorena Toporoc and Oana Toma, two of CID Foundation’s psychologists, who used video and printed materials to help the children visualise and understand more about each means of transportation. Then, they got down to business and helped and guided the kids to craft little paper boats that were then tested using their inflatable pool set up in the centre’s garden. Each little paper boat that managed to stay afloat brought loud and appreciative applause, cheering and sheer delights. Towards the end of their ‘lesson’, the kids asked Oana and Lorena to help them craft another set of boats which they intended to keep as a reminder of their great day spent learning and having fun out of the sun. When their cutting and folding was done, each got to keep their little colourful boat and some of the children also proudly shared their boat’s features and use with their named carer, especially those who hadn’t the chance to attend the interactive lesson. This ‘summer class’ was just another great day spent learning a little of the wonders of the world!
