“Step we gaily on we go, all for St Laurence Hospice”

Relaxing before their trek

One of the longest serving  and the newest of the Charity’s Trustees, Doctors Robin Dunn and Harry Ward and their respective wives Anna and Sue have decided to ‘step it out’ on the 15th of September  in a week-long sponsored walk of Scotland’s West Highland Way, which is  one of the country’s most picturesque treks. The challenges of the West Highland midge, and perhaps, if they are unfortunate, the early autumn weather, are easily counter balanced by some of the most breath taking views in Scotland

Our ‘intrepid four’ will walk in aid of CID’s new ‘Body Positive’ Children’s House being opened on the St Laurence Campus. HIV although no longer the scourge that it was, still presents problems for children and young people abandoned in  the care of Child Protection Authorities, for they often are relegated to and segregated in locked rooms unable to live freely with other children in fear of cross infection. Casa Catherine will offer a real home from home for the children who live there

Anna Dunn and Robin pictured with their grandchildren shared recently “We've been involved with CID since 1993 so feel very committed to helping these wonderful children and young adults some of whom we've known since then especially the young people at St Laurence’s. It's always very moving to meet up with them.” “A standing invitation exists to join us so fellow walkers are very welcome. However, due to the popularity of this walk at this time of year, en-route overnight accommodation is at a premium, but it is still not too late to join to join us in walking a day section of the trail.”

Being a sponsored walk all and any contributions to the pot will be welcomed to be part of the support team simply control and click https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Robin-Dunn2 to  make donations and wish Robin and his fellow trekkers well in their walk.
