The joy of spring and an unexpected visit from a friend

Admiring the patchwork quilts brought for the St  Andrew's residents

The day of the spring equinox brought a visit from a much-loved friend and supporter from the UK, when June Hurn travelled to Saint Andrew’s Centre, Pitesti bearing good news and many unexpected gifts. She arrived with three very much needed wheelchairs, patchwork quilts specially designed for the children’s beds in the residential ward and lots of sweaters and toys for kids in the local community in the greatest need. Bogdan, Daniela and Izabela were thrilled to receive the wheelchairs, specially tailored mobility aids that will help them get around easier and stay comfortable throughout the day. Fingers crossed they will quickly acclimatise to their new wheelchairs and that everything will run smoothly.

Claudia was excited to get together with June and very happy to see the new and very colourful quilts. She was invited to pick her favourite and everyone was surprised with her choice. When asked what made her go for the dotted pattern, Claudia replied that she is fond of dots and can’t wait to get wrapped in it at bedtime. Claudia also chose for her friends Nicoleta and Izabela. Madalin and Ioana also received new patchwrok quilts handcrafted with love by friends and supporters in the UK.

The children supported in the local community were also on the present list. June wanted to offer each of them small tokens of support by way of warm woollen sweaters and plush toys so they were invited to St Andrew’s and we all spent a lovely afternoon. Both the children and their parents were incredibly happy to receive such wonderful gifts and expressed their gratitude.

The care team at St Andrew’s would like share their thanks with our UK friends and supporters and to June Hurn, for always having the children of Arges in their heart and for bringing them so much joy through their wonderful gifts. We hope you all have a wonderful and happy Spring!
