On April 5th this year friends and neighbours gathered at this event to support Children in Distress, to socialise and to chat to friends old and new.
The event was planned in the cold weather of Winter and the menu of homemade soup and puddings proved very popular, even though, luckily, on the day itself the weather was beautiful. About forty five people came to eat the twenty five litres of soup and numerous delicious puddings! Many others who could not come kindly sent donations for CID.
There was a ‘Bring and Buy’ cake stall, a very popular raffle and a stall of handmade cards, small gifts and books. Information about Children in Distress was available for everyone to look at.
There was a wonderful and enthusiastic group of Helpers and one of them summed the day up in a letter afterwards: “Such a super friendly atmosphere and, hopefully, one which raised a fair bit of money for your children in Romania. It has been SUCH a happy day for us- I thoroughly enjoyed it!”.
The lunch raised an amazing total of £1,585 and it will be put to very good use in the care of the children in Romania.
THANK YOU! to everyone involved.
