Meet our CEO – Simon Errington

Our spotlight piece shines a light on Simon, his background and why he is so passionate about the work of our children's charity.

Simon Errington joined Children in Distress as Chief Executive because he believes every child deserves the opportunity to grow up feeling safe, valued and full of hope.

Throughout his career, Simon has worked across leadership, organisational development and the charitable sector, helping organisations strengthen their people, develop sustainable futures and create lasting positive change. His leadership has always been rooted in one simple belief: when you invest in people, you transform lives and communities.

As Chief Executive of Children in Distress, Simon is leading the charity through an exciting new chapter, building on more than three decades of life-changing work while ensuring the organisation remains sustainable, relevant and able to support vulnerable children for generations to come. Working alongside dedicated trustees, staff, volunteers, supporters and partners, he is committed to maximising the impact of every donation and every opportunity to improve the lives of children and young people.

Simon believes leadership is about service rather than status. He is passionate about creating organisations where people feel valued, listened to and inspired to make a difference.

Away from the office, Simon enjoys walking, spending time with his family and continuing to support community organisations. He considers it a privilege to lead Children in Distress.
